Scientific seminar on “gender equality and access to resources: the key to sustainable development”

On September 18, the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, with the participation of student scientific circles, held a scientific seminar on UN Sustainable Development Goals No. 5 “Gender Equality”, No. 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation”, No. 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy” and No. 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. During the seminar, the students who took part in it received interesting information about the importance of the sustainable development goals.

The student scientific circle “Innovative Agronomy” spoke on the goal “Gender Equality”. Gender equality is one of the fundamental principles of democracy. Its promotion in all spheres of life creates favorable conditions for improving the quality of life. Its practical implementation is one of the important areas of the socio-economic development policy of Turkmenistan.

The student scientific circle “Hydraulic Engineer” presented on the goal “Clean Water and Sanitation”. This is one of the main directions of the state policy on the efficient use of water resources. The tasks of developing all sectors of the economy, protecting the environment and providing the population with clean drinking water were discussed.

The student scientific circle “Design Engineer” presented on the goal “Inexpensive and Clean Energy”. The state energy supply policy of Turkmenistan is aimed at providing consumers with reliable and uninterrupted electricity, as well as its export to foreign consumers.

The student scientific circle “Digital Economy” presented on the goal “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. Information on the gross domestic product, gross national income, investment and employment in Turkmenistan was discussed.

In general, students and teachers who took part in the seminar received answers to their questions about the goals of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
