Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Turkmen Agricultural Institute prepares highly qualified, competitive, and specialists capable of:

  • conducting comprehensive diagnostics, prevention, and treatment of animal diseases, including particularly dangerous infections;
  • mastering modern methods of breeding, reproduction, feeding, and husbandry of farm animals to enhance their productivity (meat, milk, wool);
  • organizing and managing agricultural enterprises to optimize production processes, increase profitability, and ensure the sustainable development of the industry;
  • integrating computer technologies and digital tools into agricultural practice (diagnostics, accounting, databases) and into the management of the agro-industrial complex, ensuring the transition to precision agriculture (Smart Farming).

Thus, the faculty serves as a comprehensive scientific and educational center that trains personnel for the protection of animal health, the assurance of food security, and the technological modernization of the entire agricultural sector of Turkmenistan.

The faculty prepares highly qualified specialists in the following specialties:

  • Zooveterinary;
  • Information Systems (Agricultural Science).

The faculty also prepares bachelors in the following fields of study:

  • Economy and Management (in Agriculture);
  • Accounting and Auditing (in Agriculture);
  • Information Systems and Technologies (Agricultural Science);
  • Management of the Information Security (Agricultural Science);
  • Digital Management (in Agricultural Science).

The structure of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine includes 4 departments:

  • Animal Husbandry;
  • Diagnostics and Treatment of Animal Diseases;
  • Computer Technologies;
  • Organization and Management of Agriculture.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine operates the following educational and research laboratories: Veterinary Medicine and Computer Programs.

Within the framework of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, base departments operate at the State Veterinary Service of Dashoguz velayat, the Teaching and Experimental Farm of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, as well as at the Dashoguz Vocational Technical School of the production association “Daşoguzobahyzmat”.

Lecturers of the faculty prepare and publish textbooks and teaching aids for higher and secondary vocational educational institutions in our country.

The faculty conducts scientific research jointly with the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan focused on the crossbreeding of Holstein cattle with local low-productivity breeds. Furthermore, faculty members carry out their own scientific research within the departments. Under the guidance of experienced lecturers, student scientific research projects are conducted. As part of these projects, students are trained in the methods and techniques for carrying out scientific work on relevant topics, as well as the analysis and evaluation of literature.

Within the framework Council of Young Scientists of the institute, the following student scientific clubs operate at the faculty:

  • Information Environment;
  • Digital Management;
  • Young Veterinarian.

These student scientific clubs organize webinars, scientific seminars, competitions, masterclasses, and scientific and practical conferences both at the institute and jointly with other higher education institutions in the country. They also regularly organize excursions to production facilities, enterprises, and historical sites.

Students of the faculty achieve great success by participating in international and state subject Olympiads in disciplines such as: Mathematics, Modern Computer Technologies, and Economics.

Sport holds a vital place in the state policy promoting a healthy lifestyle. Students of the faculty regularly take part in inter-faculty and inter-university sports competitions, including: Football, volleyball, basketball, Göreş (national wrestling), Table tennis, track and field (light athletics), Chess, checkers, and Duzzum (a traditional board game).

The institute provides all necessary conditions for student accommodation, cultural recreation, and organized leisure activities during non-study time. Students of the faculty are active members of the institute’s creative group, “Bagtyýarlyk joşguny” (The Spirit of the Epoch of Happiness). The faculty frequently holds various educational meetings that promote a healthy lifestyle, love for the Motherland, and respect for elders. Inspired students from the faculty actively participate in prestigious competitions such as “Talyp joşguny” (Student’s Inspiration), “Talyp gözeli” (Student Beauty Contest), “Berkarar döwletiň täze eýýamynyň bagtyýar gerçekleri” (Happy Heroes of the New Era of the Powerful State), and “Ýylyň talyby” (Student of the Year), where they have repeatedly demonstrated their creative abilities and won top awards.
