Faculty of Agronomy
The Agronomy Faculty of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute prepareshighly qualified, competitive, and patriotic specialists (agronomists) capable of:
- Implementing innovative, resource-saving, and digital technologies in the fields of crop production and farming;
- Developing and applying scientific approaches to increase the yield of key agricultural crops (cotton, grains, vegetables) in the complex soil and climatic conditions of Turkmenistan;
- Ensuring the country’s food security and participating in the implementation of State Programs for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector;
- Developing fundamental and applied science in the areas of breeding, genetics, and agrochemistry, adapting global experience to national conditions.
Thus, the faculty serves as a key educational and scientific center that forms the human resource potential for the modern agro-industrial complex.
The faculty prepares highly qualified specialists in the following specialties:
- Agronomy;
- Agrochemistry and Agro-soil Science;
- Agroecology;
- Selection and Seed Production of Agricultural Plants;
- Greenhouse Farming.
The Agronomy Faculty includes 4 departments:
- Plant Science;
- Agrochemistry and Soil Science;
- Horticulture and Vegetable Growing;
- Social Sciences.
The Agronomy Faculty of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute operates Innovative agronomy, Agrochemistry, Botany educational and research laboratories.
Within the framework of the Agronomy Faculty, basic departments operate at the Biofactory of the Dashoguz Scientific and Production Experimental Farm of the Research Institute of Agronomy of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, and at the “Breeding and Experimental Farming” Scientific Center of the S. Rozmetov Agricultural Joint Stock Company.
Faculty lecturers prepare and publish textbooks and teaching aids for higher and secondary vocational educational institutions in our country.
The faculty conducts scientific research jointly with the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. This work is aimed at improving the cultivation of agricultural crops, the scientific application of fertilizers, and the control of crop diseases and pests. Additionally, faculty members carry out their own research on the departments. Under the guidance of experienced lecturers, student scientific research is conducted at the Agronomy Faculty. Within these projects, students are trained in the methods and techniques for carrying out research on relevant topics, as well as the analysis and evaluation of literature.
Within the framework of the Institute’s Council of Young Scientists, the following student scientific clubs operate at the faculty:

- Glorious History
These student scientific clubs organize webinars, scientific seminars, competitions, masterclasses, and scientific and practical conferences both at the institute and jointly with other higher education institutions in the country. They also regularly organize excursions to production facilities, enterprises, and historical sites.
Students of the faculty participate in international and national subject Olympiads in disciplines such as History of Turkmenistan, English Language, Chemistry, Biology, and Ecology, consistently achieving high results. Furthermore, students actively participate in national Olympiads focusing on Soil Science and Genetics. These professional subject competitions significantly enhance students’ interest in their chosen profession, with faculty representatives frequently winning prizes.
Sport holds a vital place in the state policy promoting a healthy lifestyle. Faculty students regularly take part in inter-faculty and inter-university sports competitions, including: Football, volleyball, basketball, Göreş (national wrestling), Table tennis, track and field (light athletics), Chess, checkers, and Duzzum (a traditional board game).
The institute provides all necessary conditions for student accommodation, cultural recreation, and organized leisure activities during non-study time. Faculty students are active members of the institute’s creative group, “Bagtyýarlyk joşguny” (The Spirit of the Epoch of Happiness). The faculty frequently holds various educational meetings that promote a healthy lifestyle, love for the Motherland, and respect for elders. Inspired students from the faculty actively participate in prestigious competitions such as “Talyp joşguny” (Student’s Inspiration), “Talyp gözeli” (Student Beauty Contest), “Berkarar döwletiň täze eýýamynyň bagtyýar gerçekleri” (Happy Heroes of the New Era of the Powerful State), and “Ýylyň talyby” (Student of the Year), where they have repeatedly demonstrated their creative abilities and won top awards.
